100 Traffic Generating Strategies

EMAILING RELATED WEBSITES: By far the best way to build your downline of sub-affiliates is by simply contacting websites that are similar, or that serve similar industries. You would simply email them our pre-made business proposal, and if you contact enough of them each day you're bound to get new sub-affiliates joining on a daily basis.

Here is "Bonus #2" E-Book: 100 Ways To Promote Your Website (Value: $97). Below are a variety of great ideas to build your website and affiliate link traffic.

Setting up your text or banner ad

1) YOUTUBE VIDEOS: If you've been to youtube.com you've seen tons of videos which incorporate a website address that is advertised in the video. This is another great way to advertise to tons of people for free. Also there are a ton of copycat youtube websites you can find and post your video ads to. Be sure to read the sites rules before posting. They don't allow commercial solicitation in most cases. Your video has to be one with generic content and value. Then what you can do is include a small ad in your video, such as displaying your website address on the video. That way people will see the web address and likely visit it. If you're video is directly promoting the program unfortunately with most sites like youtube it will get flagged and removed in no time. It has to be "generic". Such as talking about the benefits of "affiliate programs" in general, with a tiny plug about your site and or affiliate link.

2) FACEBOOK: Facebook.com has a marketplace which is a classified ad section that can be advertised in. They also have whats called “Facebook Fliers and Fliers Pro” which is a form of pay per click advertising they offer for very low prices compared to other PPC advertising channels.

3) MYSPACE: Myspace has a marketplace which is a classified ad section that can be advertised in for free.

4) SOCIAL NETWORKS: Social network sites such as: myspace, facebook, friendster, Xanga, MSN groups, Blogger, TypePad are just a few of the hundreds of social networks that are out there. Many of them offer free classified ad sections that you can advertise in as well as other forms of advertising.

5) KIJIJI: Kijiji.com is another free popular classified ad site that targets major cities across north america. They get tons of traffic and are a great place to post ads about your site.

6) WIKIPEDIA (edits): Wikipedia is the worlds largest online encyclopedia. The beauty of it is that you can go into it, do a search for any keyword relating to your product or service, which will bring up Wikipedia entries on that topic. You can then go in and edit those entries. I wouldn't do anything to drastic to a page, because they'll simply exclude you. But rather just go to the bottom where it says "external links" and add your site there. They also do not allow commercialized sites on that. So if you want to make sure you're ad remains in the "external links" section of a Wiki then you need to have it linking to a doorway page of your site which just provides generalized content about the topic of the Wiki. So if the topic of the Wiki is "starbucks" and you sell starbucks coffee mugs, then go in and create a doorway page talking about some generalized info on starbucks and or starbucks coffee mugs. Then add subtle links off the doorway page leading off to your main page. ie: "brought to you by "coffee mugs r us" (and link it to the main page). And continue to add your site under all the keywords (wiki entries) you can find. You can even create your own orginal Wiki-entry if it's not already on there. Wiki entries often appear at the top of google searches as well so if you have your site linked up on those pages you're bound to get free traffic. This has go to be one of the very best ways to get free traffic I can think of. Also there are many copycat wikipedia's and wiki's you can find, edit, and add your ads to.

7) PAY PER CLICK ADVERTISING: Pay Per Click (PPC) Advertising is a type of online advertising in which advertisers (i.e. you) pay for visitors on a Cost Per Click (CPC) basis. That is, advertisers only pay when a Web searcher actually clicks on a link and visits their Web site. PPC advertising is different than "traditional" online advertising, where advertisers pay according to how many times their ad is displayed. With Pay Per Click Adverting, an ad can be displayed many times, but the advertiser pays nothing unless a Web searcher actually clicks on the ad. When done correctly, PPC Advertising can produce highly targeted traffic -- the most sought-after and valuable entity on the Web.

Call it the evolution of the "traditional" search engine. Pay Per Click Search Engines allow advertisers to sign up and bid on specific keywords -- keywords that are relevant to the particular products and/or services available on their Web site. Advertisers bid for priority location in the search results of these relevant keywords. The order in which listings for a particular keyword are displayed is determined by the amount of these bids.

Depending on the specific PPC Search Engine and also on the demand for a specific keyword, the CPC for that specific keyword can be as little as $0.01 or as much as a few dollars. When a Web searcher types in that keyword, that advertiser's listing will be ranked according to the amount bided, compared with all other bids on that keyword. But regardless of how many times the listing appears, that advertiser only pays when a searcher actually clicks on their listing and visits their Web site.

The most popular PPC Search Engines are (2005):

Google Ad Words - http://adwords.Google.com

Overture - http://www.overture.com (now called yahoo search marketing)

These two entitles dominate the PPC market. They feed the majority of the largest search engines online which include: Google, Yahoo, MSN, Lycos, Hotbot and thousands more. They are also the most reputable, giving you real value for your advertising dollar, and real visitors to your site.

8) CRAIGSLIST.ORG ONLINE CLASSIFIEDS: This site is worth mentioning simply because of the advertising value it represents. It was ranked 43rd most popular site in the world according to Alexa.com (2005). It allows anyone to post free classified ads to it. So it's a great source of additional free traffic. And with that many visitors going there, it's bound to generate some free traffic.

9) EMPLOYMENT WEBSITES: One simple way to build sub affiliates is to approach other employment websites. Email them with a simple letter inviting them to join the oilcareer.com affiliate program. Then in the email post your own unique affiliate tracking URL. If they click that link and then join our affiliate program, they will become one of your sub affiliates which you will earn money off each time they make a sale.

10) DISCUSSION GROUPS: These groups are types of online forums in which visitor can talk about various topics that each group is focused on. Post ads to these discussion groups talking about your website. You can do this in a variety of ways. You don't want to post just any ad though. You want your ad to be written up in a way that doesn't anger the other readers, or make the moderators of that discussion group think that your spamming the group. So write up your ad in the form of a news article relating to that industry. Then simply mention your site once in the article as one site that is an authority in that field. The other way to do this is to act as a third person acting as though you don't own the site but want to see if anyone else has information on it. So you ask the group a question about the site such as: "I'm thinking of using weight loss product X. I'm just wondering if anyone else has used that product at weightlossproduct.com, and if anyone has had success with it?" This is another way to look inconspicuous so people don't think your trying to use the discussion group for advertising purposes. You can also post messages offering expert advice for free into discussion groups where everyone is seeking out that same advice. Be sure to add your signature file to each post listing your website as the resource they need to get help.

SEARCH ENGINE SPECIALISTS: These individuals or companies have expertise when it comes to understanding search engines. They offer various services that promise to give you top ranking in the major search engines. They do this by sometimes making changes to the html or coding on your website. They also commonly create what are known as "doorway pages" which are simply pages that are content weighted toward a certain keyword, allowing that doorway to show up in the major search engines when someone types in that keyword. Others companies simply will create accounts with the pay per click search engines on your behave and charge you inflated prices to get you bid into the top of the paid listings in the major search engines. However, that is really something you can simply do yourself simply by going to any of the PPCSE's. So watch out of these companies. The best results I've had were from companies that are experts at creating doorway pages for your site. I list this and a few others at:

YAHOO SHOPPING: Have your product or service added to Yahoo's online mall. It works on a cost per click basis. The price-per-click is based on the category of your products. Have your products appear in Yahoo, Product Search, and on Buyer's Guide comparison pages. (See: http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html )

BULK EMAIL: Use bulk email software to mass mail your sales pitch, article or newsletter to thousands of potential customers per hour. Just be careful you don't get in trouble with your internet service provider. This might happen if you're using their SMTP mail server to send out the email. You'll need to use software that uses your computer as it's own SMTP mail server or has some other protection measure in place. Also try to find something that has some sort of email cloaking feature to hide your email which most of them do. Read the prior chapter on "Harness the power of email" for more details. Visit: to find bulk email software.

ONLINE MALLS: Join an established online mall to advertise your website. Just be sure that the mall has a high ranking with Alexa.com so you know it has solid traffic. Malls that cater toward specific types of industries and products work best. Online malls are a great source for finding affiliates and links exchange partners.

NEWSGROUPS: Places where people post messages to one another on specific subject matter. Traditionally you would download these using a news reader program. Now they are graduating more and more toward web based access, almost like regular online forums. You can post messages about your products, services, and or website to newsgroups. See the prior chapter on "Advertising to Usenet Newsgroups" for more details.

BUSINESS CARDS: These are important tools. If you deal with prospects and clients face to face then this is a great way to advertise your website. And even if you think you don't deal with any customers offline you should still have business cards readily available. As often the topic of conversation ends up being: "so what line of work are you in?" Giving you another opportunity to give someone a mini brochure and access to your website address. These cards you can make on your personal PC just by purchasing card paper, or for higher quality you might want to spend a few bucks.

ONLINE YELLOW PAGES: There are also online yellow pages that you can get listed in as well. Again these are extremely valuable in allowing customers to find businesses based on geographically targeted areas. The online versions allow you to have a link going to your company website as well. See to find the online yellow page sites.

LINKS EXCHANGE: Or "reciprocal links" as some call it, is when you agree to post an ad on your site, such as a text link, banner or button, and in exchange the site whose link you're adding will do the same for you. Just be sure that the sites you exchange links with have the same type of targeted traffic, have a high Alexa ranking, and have a strong Google Page Rank. Also be sure that if they're putting you on their "Links Page", which is common, that they have a link to that links page showing on their main page, or index page. Because if no one visiting there main page can find there links page then you won't get any traffic. And better yet if you can convince them to put you on their index page you might get as much as 10 times the visitors from a single link.

TOP 100 TRAFFIC EXCHANGE: As you browse the net you most likely have run into these. They are a list of usually100 banners or links on one page. Each banner has been provided by some other company. And each company also has agreed to show that directory's link on either their website. The sites that provide your banner with the most traffic appear higher in the list of 100. So for example the site giving you the most traffic appears in positions 1 and it goes down from there. There are scripts that have already been created that will allow you to quickly set up a traffic exchange of this nature. Another way to utilize this kind of a "Top 100 Direcotory or Exchange" is to reserve some of the ad space for your main website. So for example you could have the top banner as your main website and or a banner along the side. Each of which will be pointing to your main site. You can find these top 100 exchange scripts at:

TELL A FRIEND: Set up what's called a "Tell a Friend" page which allows users to provide you with their friends email addresses. They simply enter their name and email along with their friends name and email address into an online form and click submit. That then links to an autoresponder which emails the friend telling them that their friend "Steve Smith at: steve@aol.com recommended they visit the site: www.yoursite.com". The other thing you should have this program set up to do is add the person who referred the friend onto your newsletter since you have their name and email. That way you can start sending them some follow up material as well. This strategy can be compounded by using a system by which the visitor has to refer 3 or 5 people in order to get a free gift, or a free ebook, or a free email account, or anything that represents some value.

PAGE GENERATORS: One way to get a higher ranking under numerous keywords with the search engines is to simply have more pages, each of which focuses on a specific keyword. So each page would be keyword rich, focusing on one specific keyword. That way when the search engines spyder bots are searching your site, they'll see that you have "many pages". This will not only give your over all site a boost for being a large website, but also they will begin to spyder each individual page of your site and list each of those internal doorway pages (pages under the same URL) under the keyword that the page is focused on. A "Page Generator Program" will instantly help you to set up hundreds even thousands of content pages on your website that target specific keywords. This will save you tremendous time in setting up all these additional pages as compared to doing it yourself by hand.

SECOND LIFE: Second life (secondlife.com) is one of the largest virtual worlds online. It allows you to build basically a virtual life. With millions of people using this, it could be a great place to advertise your website and brand. Companies both large and small are advertising in the Second Life virtual world. Very inexpensive advertising and definitely worth investigating.

INDUSTRY DIRECTORY: Create a directory website for your industry. Start by posting the names, website addresses and a small description of each site on a list in that directory. That way you'll have some starting content. Then in future anyone wanting to have their website added can use your reciprocal links form (such as discussed in the previous chapter on "Linking"). They will have to exchange links with you in order to have their website added. So as your directory becomes more popular within the industry more and more websites will begin linking to you in order to get their site listed in the directory. Now what you do is you reserve part of this directory for your own advertising purposes. For example you reserve a place for your banner at the top of the index page of the site. Or you do a write up on the top 10 things anyone looking for an "X" product or service should know (i.e.: The top 10 things you should look for when choosing your next car.) Then at the bottom you could say something like one of the few "X's" that meets all these criteria is: "You and your site.com". The main thing is that you will become the major sponsor for this website so anyone visiting the site will easily be able to click on your banner or ad giving you additional free traffic. You can also set up pop up's on this page advertising your newsletter and or website.

DOORWAY SITE: This is similar to a doorway page. The only difference is that you're creating an entire website on a separate URL including a variety of pages relating to your product, service, or industry. You will exchange links between your main site and this promotional site. And you'll simply reserve space on this promotional website to advertise your main site. As search engines begin to index this new site in their engines and directories you'll benefit from visitors seeing and clicking on your ads on it. Causing visitors to flow through from this second site to your main site.

AD JOURNAL: As you begin to use more and more ads you need to find a journal that you can record all your ads in. You'll want something that will record things like:

· What ad campaigns you currently have running ?
· What results your currently getting with each campaign (i.e.: PPC, banner, email)?
· What ads you've ran, such as: banners buttons, classifieds, PPC listings, links exchange ads etc?
· What results you've achieved in the past?
· How much you've spent for advertising in the past?
· How much your spending now?
· What split tests you've done and what were the outcomes?
· How long you had campaigns running for?
· What changes you've made to your ads and why?
· What changes you've made to the advertising mediums your using and why?

By recording all this data you'll be able to easily see where you're ad campaigns have been in the past, where they are now, and what you might need to do to improve their future. It will show you what works and what doesn't and is an essential key of a good overall advertising department. There are a variety of ad journal software's available online, or you could just create your own journal using MS Word as long as it all gets written down. To see some of these ad journal tools visit:

CHAT ROOM SIGN: Start by creating a doorway URL staring with a number or else the letter "A" (i.e.: www.1freelegaladvice.com)

Then set up a new account to have your URL match your chat room nickname. So your nick name for the room would be: 1freelegaladvice.com or 1freelegaladvice-com or 1freelegaladvice_com.You want it to start with a 1 or an "A" because often peoples names are listed in alphabetical order so you want to be at the top of the list where everyone can see it.

Be sure to check if the domain name is available with a registrar. Then if it is sign up under the major chat hubs using your matching nickname such as: 1freelegaladvice-com . If that is successful, immediately register the domain name that matches that as you'll be using it as part of your strategy.

What you can do is log into a high population chat room with your "nickname" being the same as your domain name. If you're domain name has the right keywords relating to the subject matter being discussed in the chat room then people are bound to visit your site. You could log into several chat rooms simultaneously to compound the effectiveness of this strategy.

CHAT ROOM PAID ADS: You can also purchase paid ads in some chat rooms which will allow you to target tons of targeted visitors. You can focus your ads to be shown in specific chat rooms whose visitors are chatting about your industry or topic. Some of these chat ad services are listed at:

HIT EXCHANGES: The initial thing you should be looking for is to join some GOOD hit exchange sites. There are thousands of them out there, especially now that a number of people started providing free, or very cheap, scripts allowing pretty much anyone to start up their own traffic exchange site. You want to look for the biggest and the best of them, in order to maximize the returns on your clicks. The smaller sites simply cannot deliver the hits fast enough and when they do, it's often the same person visiting your site over and again. Not good.
How do you pick the best sites? You need to look out for the following:

· The size of the membership - bigger the better.
· The uniqueness of hits - different people not the same clicker ever time.
· The anti-cheat protection - you want real visitors not bots.
· Exchange Ratio - at least a 2:1 ratio, 1:1 if possible.
· Length of timer - 30 seconds is better than 10 if you want sales.

Those are the most important things. Find a big, popular traffic exchange with good anti-cheat protection, a 30 second timer and a 1:1 exchange ratio and you are onto a winner. Unfortunately those are few and far between, however, I've listed some of the better ones at:

KEYWORD RICH TITLES: Each page of your website will need a title. The title is a line that is added into the <head> section of your html code. Most user-friendly website design programs have it as simply a form field in which you'd enter the title. See your programs help file for details on where to input your title. The title on each page needs to use the main keywords that people will search for to find your site in the search engines. So if your main keyword people search for is: "Australia Travel", then those need to be used in your website title. This will allow you to get higher ranking when you're site gets spydered by the search engines.

SELL ON EBAY: Last time I checked (April/05) EBay was ranked to be the eighth largest site on the net. That means they get "tons of traffic". Any site that's getting tons of traffic like this is where you want your site to found. Some of my associates report that they get an extra 30 to 60 visitors per day to their website just by being an eBay seller. Take advantage of the "Description" and "About Me" sections to publish links leading to your website address. This strategy can be used in combination with other strategies or with the right product can be the focus of your marketing effort. Also consider selling on other popular online auction sites.

SELL ON AMAZON: Last time I checked (April/05) Amazon was ranked to be the twelfth largest site on the net. That means they also get "tons of traffic". Any site that's getting that kind of ranking and traffic is where you want your site to be found. They are starting to open more and more opportunities to allow the general population to also sell things (similar to eBay). They're mainly focusing on informational products in the categories of: written, audio, software, and video materials. So you're product will need to fall into these categories to be able to sell them on Amazon. However, chances are strong that they'll end up offering visitors their own online storefront so keep an eye out for this development. This strategy can be used in combination with other strategies, or with the right product can be the focus of your marketing effort. Also consider selling on other popular online bookstore websites that offer "seller accounts" or "virtual store fronts".

WRITE CONTENT ARTICLES: Write content articles for other websites. Start by creating 20 or so articles relating to your specific product, service or industry. An example of one article might be: "Improve Your Sleep Quality By 50%" or "10 Holistic Ways To Getting A Better Nights Sleep". Then what you do is create an autoresponder and add each article, spacing them out to be sent every 2 weeks or every month to the recipients. Next you create a list of larger websites that commonly accept articles for submission. Find their email addresses where they accept articles to and add them to your autoresponder. That way each of these large websites that are seeking articles or content will receive a new article from you every 2 to 4 weeks. Some will use your article. The trick to writing your article is to make it information rich and light on advertising. Just be sure to mention your website at least once. A good place is in your signature file at the bottom.

SEARCH FOR "ADD A URL": Do a search in each major search engine for the keyword phrase "Add a URL" or "submit your site". What you'll come up with in your search is thousands of sites that allow you to submit your website address for listing in their directories, classifieds, links pages and search engines. Begin to visit each of the sites that appear and enter your site information.

DOORWAY PAGES: First off, let's answer the obvious questions, what are they, and why do you want to build them? Doorway pages are single-page websites that link to one or more other sites. Brief enough to be effective at transferring traffic to its final destination, but informative enough to gain search engine positioning. Doorway pages can be internal or external. So if they are pages created in subfolders on your main domain name then they're internal. If you go buy a new domain name specifically for the purpose of building it into a doorway page or site, that would be an external doorway page. To create a doorway page you can either build one and add it under your existing website address or under a new website address that relates to your site. The content of each doorway page should focus on a specific keyword you want to gain search engine ranking with. Build at least 20 doorway pages, each of which will focus on one of your most popular industry keywords. So it should mention that keyword often in the content, title, meta tags, and the file name of the doorway. Building a doorway page is easy but building it just perfect so that it gets search engine ranking is another ball park. You can buy software that will aid you in building effective doorway pages that actually will have a chance at getting search engine ranking. There are also companies that offer to build them for you. You can review these supporting resources on "doorway pages" at:

NEWSLETTER ADS: You can buy ads in email newsletters and ezines. Some webmasters who write these newsletters have large followings and you can get buy ad space from them at bargain basement prices. Have the person who writes the newsletter recommend you in the newsletter to build credibility. You can find newsletters that relate to your industry by searching the ezine directories. Some of these ezine directories are listed at: . You can also approach these ezine owners to form strategic alliances in which you'd have them join your affiliate program and then send out the ad in their next newsletter linking the ad to the newsletter owners affiliate tracking URL. That way the owner of the ezine/newsletter will share in the profits from any sales generated. And if they make some real money from you they'll most likely keep advertising you in each edition of their newsletter/ezine.

AFFILIATE DIRECTORY ADS: Place ads for your affiliate program in affiliate directories. As you do some searching you'll find many of these "affiliate directories". See what other people are writing about their programs and try to include some of the same "affiliate lingo" in your ad, such as: what the percentage payout is, as well as what the equates to in actual dollars. If your program is 2-tier mention that as well. People who are seeking to join affiliate programs frequent these affiliate directories and will find your ad. To see a list of these affiliate directories visit:

PLACE PRODUCT ADS IN AFFILIATE DIRECTORIES: Place ads for your product in affiliate directories covertly. Taking the previous idea to the next level what you do is when you place your ad simply talk more about your product or service. That way the affiliate directory ad now becomes actually a product/service ad. Since the people are already searching under specific industries you know they will have an interest in your products or services so why not advertise to them as well. When using this strategy just be sure to mention enough about your affiliate program as well so that it will be accepted by the directory as sometimes they review the ads placed.

TESTIMONIAL ADS: Find all the sites that are similar to yours and that rank high in the search engines under the keywords you want to be under. Find out which of them have "testimonials" pages which also show the website address of the person giving the testimonial. Email those websites that have the testimonial pages and tell them that you'll be willing to sample their product or service, and if you like it you'll give them a glowing testimonial in exchange. Some might agree to this. If they don't agree and you still want to try to get a testimonial listed on their site, tell them that you'll purchase they're product if they'll have your testimonial appear with your name and website address. That will give you free traffic, and often these kinds of testimonial ads can last for years on a website without being changed or removed.

BETA RELEASE TO FORUMS: One effective strategy I came up with is to do a "Beta Release" to forums, blogs, and newsgroups. If you're offering something new that you need immediate feedback on this is one way to get it. Offering a beta release might even translate into sales of other products or services you own as well as, new member, referrals, and affiliates. However, I don't suggest you use this strategy to try and fool anyone into thinking they're getting a free beta release of something only to find that you're trying to actually sell them something. That will only ruin your image. Instead, the compensation you're trying to gain by giving away a free beta release will be testimonials, reviews, and feedback from these test subjects. Those testimonials will be a valuable addition to your site.

POST TO FFA PAGES: FFA stands for "free-for-all". In Internet marketing, FFA pages were very popular several years ago. They are pages that you, as a web site owner, can visit and add a link to your site free, in a category of your choice. Almost like a links directory. Times have changed and although this is still one method I wouldn't waste a lot of time with it unless your using a reputable automated FFA ad posting service. The truth is that these pages rarely get visited by humans anymore because they are bogged down with so many advertising links. Try it, but don't waste a lot of time or money on it.

WEB RINGS: Webring.org created the original "web ring" website plug-in. A web ring is a group of voluntarily interlinked web sites whose owners registered with the organization. Users can choose from a variety of industry focused webrings which they can join. The webring is suppose to generate new traffic to your site. However, webrings on your index page simply will not look good, and will make you look like a small basement operation and amateurish, so be careful of the impact it might have on your credibility. Perhaps better used on your links page or other pages than your sales page. The other way is if you could literally manipulate the code so that it's not so blatantly obvious to your viewers that your part of a web ring. There are also various other web rings that have emerged which you might want to join.

BLOGS: In simple terms, a "Blog" is a web site, where you write stuff on an ongoing basis. New stuff shows up at the top, so your visitors can read what's new. Visitors have the option to comment on it, or link to it, or email you depending on what settings you choose when setting up your blog. Blogs have really grown in popularity because it gives the average person who doesn't know htlm their own user friendly web page. You can create a blog that acts as a doorway page and online forum wrapped into one. Just be sure it provides valuable content on your industry and then lists your website address as one main resource. You can also post messages to other people who own blogs within your industry, making sure to list your site in the signature file of each post you make. Each blog is also achieved in a massive directory so that other people visiting the blog directory will find it. Some of the more popular blog directories are listed at

PAY PAL SHOPS: If you have an eBay Store (even a basic level subscription, like mine) and use PayPal, you can set up a PayPal Shop at no cost. Your eBay Store can then be listed in a regional, category-based directory along with other sellers who accept PayPal payments. Setting up a PayPal Shop takes minutes. You can also set up a PayPal Shop if you have a Web site or storefront that accepts PayPal. In order to be listed in the Shop directory, you must have a PayPal Verified Premier or Business Account; must maintain a registered credit card with your PayPal account; and you must have opened a PayPal Money Market Fund account. To read the entire user agreement, go to http://www.paypal.com . Data is also provided on the number of PayPal Shops, which now exceeds 45,000. PayPal Shopkeepers are eligible for "Featured Shop" consideration. These are the PayPal Shops that display when logging off PayPal, from the "PayPal Shops" link on the home page, and the "Shops" link in the footer of all PayPal pages. Featured Shops are chosen on the basis of their quality, integration of PayPal, and written application. The application requires a short Web site description along with justification for becoming a Featured Shop. There is no charge to become a Featured Shop! This is an opportunity to get your Shop exposed to over 30 million PayPal members worldwide. If you use PayPal, have a Web site or eBay Store and meet the user agreement requirements, PayPal Stores can be great marketing tool for your business.

START PAGE EXCHANGES: Upon sign up these exchanges ask you to change the start page of your browser. The exchange then begins to cause new pages to show up each time you open your browser. In exchange "your website" is displayed on another members browser start page. The ratio varies depending on the exchange. Some exchanges give you 1:1 and others are 2:1 there are other ratios but these are the most popular. There are hundreds of these exchanges out there and new ones are emerging every day. You also get free credits for signing other people up.

INTERNET SEARCHES: The amazing thing I find about the internet is how many traffic generating strategies are out there. Just by searching the internet you'll find all kinds of niche sites, articles and ideas on how to generate more traffic. You want to find those niche traffic ideas that very few know about. The reason is that the main streams of traffic are where most of the competition is. Some industries you can still compete in; others, it can be difficult when your competing along side ten thousand other companies that also want to get their site at the top of the Google and yahoo. But the more you search for new strategies the more niche ideas you'll discover. Begin to compile a database of these niche traffic strategies which you can exploit. Do key word searches: Such as: traffic ideas, traffic generating, getting traffic to find these sites and articles on the latest cutting edge strategies. And there's always new strategies that are emerging which gives you an endless source of ideas to promote your site.

OBSERVATION: Anytime you're online start to observe where ads, links, banner, buttons, pop ups, logos, and more are showing up. Create a file in your internet browsers favorites folder. Then anytime you happen to be browsing the net make it a habit to bookmark any site that you notice a unique ad, or specific area of a site that you would also be interested in getting your ads displayed on. Then ever so often go through those bookmarks. This will allow you to find not only new places that you could be advertising, but also new and interesting ads. You can begin to mimic both the places that you're finding ads popping up, as well as the unique styles, catch phrases, and ideas that others are already having success with. Mimic them and use them in your own industry. By getting into this habit of simply observing ads as you browse the net you'll always find new places to advertise in, and you'll always be coming across interesting and effective ad strategies to help make your own ads more interesting and effective.

NEWSPAPERS: Once you get your site established and making money you might want to test newspaper classifieds or display ads. Do a pilot project for this where you'll take out a tiny classified ad under the category that best targets the visitors you want. Include your website address as well as a phone number linking to a voice mail recording. The voice mail will give a 2 minute recorded message about what you have to offer. Create some urgency in the message for the listener to visit your website by offering some free prize, free giveaway, or limited time offer. To track your visitors you should register a different website address which you'll use as a doorway page leading to your main site. You'll attach a traffic tracker to that doorway page so that you can determine how many visitors are coming in as a result of running your classified ad. By this time you'll know already how much each visitor is worth to your site, so you'll be able to determine if the ad generated enough traffic to justify continuing with it or not. In other words if the ad doesn't generate enough traffic to make back a net profit of at least double what you paid for the ad, then you either need to change the ad or discontinue that ad. There are tons of books written on how to create and place effective classified ads. Read them to get familiar with how to write an effective classified ad. This strategy can be highly effective because if it works in a few newspapers, you can then start to roll out your classified ad campaign into hundreds even thousands, of newspapers across the country.

BILLBOARDS: Traditionally billboards you see on the side of highways are used to direct traffic. Such as "McDonalds 2 Miles Ahead". But it is possible to use these as another way of advertising your site. What you do is find a billboard for rent on a busy street or highway. Sometimes you can get these billboards for quite reasonable prices. On the largest highway in my province the cost was only $1000 per month. This is particularly effective if your product or service is geared toward the masses, and not on a niche market. In a single day on a busy stretch of highway you could get tens of thousands of cars driving by. An example of what might work well would be in big letters "Download Free Ring Tones, Music, and More - www.freeringtones.com " You have to give them a reason to want to visit your site for this strategy to be effective enough for someone to take the time to write down your site and visit it.

TRACTOR TRAILERS: Traditionally you would purchase bill board advertising on regular large boards you see on the road sides. However, I've seen this form of advertising done in a very creative and most likely far less expensive fashion. For example what you can do is rent or buy an old tractor trailer. You just need the trailer, not the semi truck. You go to local farms that are strategically located beside major highways. You ask the farmer to allow you to park your tractor trailer in the corner of their field and positioned where anyone driving down either direction of the highway can see it. You paint each side of the trailer with your companies advertising on it. You could probably pay the farmer a lot less than having to rent an actual bill board. And because your billboard is painted on trailer with is mobile, it can usually bypass most advertising legalities. You'd have tens of thousands of motorists seeing your mobile bill board every day.

CUBE VANS: You buy or rent an old cube van. You don't even have to have one that has an engine for that matter. All you want is a good box on the back. Again paint it all up with your company advertising either by doing it yourself or hiring a sign company to help you. Then you find a "major intersection" in your city that has a business, residence, or some space that you might be able to rent or possible even legally park the vehicle. You find the owner of that property and tell them exactly what you want to do. Some property owners who don't live on the premises would be happy to make a few hundred extra dollars per month to allow you to park your cube van on their property. And because there are tons of intersections to choose from, you can even target specific areas of your city based on the typical demographics that live or frequent that area. For example, if you only want a younger more sophisticated adult audience, perhaps parking it near a college or university is the best place for it. Again for an extremely affordable price you'd have a mobile bill board parked on a major intersection of your city. And if you run into any legalities you can always move it to a new location. Again, you'd have tens of thousands of motorists seeing your mobile bill board every day.

CONSTRUCTION SITES: This is one of my favorite. I seen this while visiting Hong Kong, but I think it could work just about anywhere. What you do is you simply find out what major construction projects, especially high rise buildings are under development. You find out which ones are already under construction, or you find out which are about to be developed. Then what you do is you contact the developer to find out if they would be willing to sell you ad space on their building, or construction crane. You want something that's high up off street level where lots of people will see it each day. So what I saw in Hong Kong was a high rise that was under construction. In enormous letters on a banner at the top of the half completed building, that could be seen form miles and miles from down town Hong Kong, were the words: www.hkjobs.com . It's just extra revenue for the developer. Often these are revenue that they don't even consider, which could be negotiated to a minimum amount. This type of strategy works great if you can secure space in a down town location of a major city. Usually these mammoth projects can take over a year to complete which gives you advertising for quite a lengthy time period. You'd have hundreds of thousands of people seeing your banner every day if you can get it high enough off the ground.

SIGNS: If you carefully think up a strategy for signs they can be a highly effective way to draw in tons of visitors at a very low cost. For example find the bus stations that are used everyday around the major universities, I'll use the ring tone give away as an example. You advertise that on signs you can rent at the bus stops. Mention that they can even log in with their cell phones or PDA's to download ring tones direct to their cell phones. Have them enter their name and email address to capture their information which ads them to an autoresponder which will remind them to visit you again. Then at your website you'd have some kind of offer or affiliate program that you'd promote as the revenue generator on your site. You'd get lots of traffic this way and tons of word of mouth advertising. As you can see by this example signage works if you target the right audience with the right offer.

ANSWER YOUR EMAILS: What happens so often on the internet is that people will visit a website, often after business hours. They'll be interested in ordering but they have just one or two questions that they want answered before they make their purchase. Basically all you have to do is answer the email and they'll buy. Or if they sound like they're on the fence about ordering this is your golden opportunity to give them that last bit of motivation to make the purchase. So not only answer all your emails, but the speed at which you reply to customers is of equal importance. You should get back to people at very least within 24 hours of receiving the emails. However, many of the cutting edge companies out there answer ever 12 hours. Also be sure to personalize your emails. And give direct links to areas of your site that you want the customer to visit. If you get too overwhelmed by emails there are ways to speed up and automate the process. Such as using a canned response tool which allows you to assign preformatted responses to Control keys on your keyboard; or outsourcing the email service to a customer service company which will handle it all for you. See the chapter on Developing a Customer Service Strategy for more info.

EXIT TRAFFIC: Some people detest pop ups, however, when used correctly, they can be powerful tool. They're especially useful for capitalizing on exit traffic. The way to use them to capitalize on exit traffic is this. When you develop your website you're going to have 2 pop ups appear on enter. The first one is a "div layer" on the index page of your site. It will appear almost like a "table" would look on your index page. This div layer is infact part of your main window, and not it's own window. However, you will need that div layer to look like it's own window that the visitor need to take action on, such as enter their name and email into it to join your newsletter or else close it. Don't cause it to buzz in or move all around the place. That makes it way too obvious that it's a pop up. As soon as they see it moving in, the mind of the visitor is already thinking "close this". So have it appear layered right on top of your text so that they'll know they first have to address that div layer that will look like a pop up. By the way the unique benefit of the div layer is that it can't be blocked by anti-popup software. Now when someone visits your website you'll also have a real pop up that will be set to load "underneath" of your main sites window. So basically 2 windows will open whenever someone visitors your site. The second window is the pop up which is hiding underneath your main window. Based on my experience using this strategy it's very unobtrusive because the visitor either doesn't see the second window appear, or even if they do they don't care that much because at least they know they made it to your main page. So after they're done reviewing or buying on your index page they're going to eventually leave. When they leave they're inevitably going to have to do something with that second window. And that second window is where you capitalize on the exit traffic. Ideally I would use that second window as another lead generator, which works great offering your newsletter, or access to a special members only area, or as a prize giveaway in which they have to enter their name and email. However, you can use that second window for anything you wish, as it also works great for promoting an affiliate program of any product that your visitors would also have interest in. This compounds the effectiveness of your ecommerce strategy because either you'll gain another opportunity to capture the lead on exiting traffic, or you'll promote another website via their affiliate program to make extra money from something else. And even though you'll have 2 pop ups, both are so extremely low profile so you won't have to worry about upsetting anyone. I don't recommend having a pop up on leave. If something pops up when someone's trying to do something else, such as leave a site, they'll automatically close the pop up that's preventing them from leaving. Your pop up will be different in that it appears "on entry" and remains hidden underneath. Then when they exit that's when they address the second window. It's already popped up so it's no aggressively in their face and just asking to be shut down. It's subtly waiting in the background to be addressed, which is why it's so effective to be used in this manner.

DOORWAY DOMAIN: A doorway domain is a domain used specifically to rank well in search engines for particular keywords, serving as an entry point through which visitors pass to the main domain. This can also work well if you can find a popular misspelling of a major competitor in your industry, or if you can secure a domain that has popular keywords that people might directly type into their browser with or without doing a search for it.

ASK VISITORS TO BOOKMARK YOU: Bookmarks or Favorites are a list of sites located in your website browser. As you're probably already familiar with them, you can access those bookmarks at anytime to revisit a site quickly and easily. You want people to bookmark you as often as possible. So ask for it in your site. One easy way to do this is add a button in your navigation bar saying "Bookmark Us" or "Add to Favorites". That will be linked to a java scripted that you will place in the header of your websites html. That script will automatically bookmark your site in the visitors browser as soon as they click on your bookmark us link. This is also a great feature as sometimes people are surfing the net and they come across the site and they want to take a closer look at it but at a later time. Asking them to bookmark you reminds them of that option which they most likely will take advantage of.

ADVERTISE USING ALEXA REVIEWS: Here's another underground marketing strategy that I came up with that I think you'll like. If you've never visited Alexa.com they rank the popularity of websites from #1 all the way down into the millions. So for example Yahoo.com is the most popular and most visited site in the world, after that #2 msn, #3 Google all the way down into the millions. If it says "no data" then you don't have a rank as of yet. Alexa is extremely popular and has a very high overall internet ranking. Many people will look up a sites ranking in Alexa.com to find out more information about the site. Which means targeted visitors are using Alexa to review sites within you industry. If you have a site you can look it up there and see where it ranks. When you look up a site in Alexa you can review what other visitors to that site have write about them in the "review section" which appears closer to the bottom of any website you search up. So what you do is give out some free reviews on your competitors. Don't say negative things about them if they're not true. In fact you can even say positive things just be sure to give an honest evaluation of what you think of their site, and compare there site to your site. Now they don't allow you to give out website addresses, so what I recommend you do is when ever you mention your competitors site put it in "quotation marks". And whenever you mention the name of your site put it in "quotation marks" also. Generally people will clue in that you have a site offering a similar service or product and they will most likely try to find your site in the search engines or else by entering your site name and then .com to that. Which is another reason why you always want a .com address. Keep the review short, only 3 to 6 sentences is necessary. Then only accept fair and genuine reviews regarding the "website" you're reviewing so be sure that you don't go overboard with personal opinions and you don't need to say anything false or misleading. Just be honest but be sure to compare it to "Your Site" and people who go to read those reviews will find your site as well. Give these reviews out to the top 50 sites in your industry that appear in the most searched keywords and at the top of the largest search engines and your bound to generate some traffic from that.

ALEXA TOP 500: When you visit alexa.com click on their "Top 500 Site" button. That lists the largest 500 websites online that are getting the large majority of the traffic. Visit them to look for links exchanges. Also contact them to see if you could either buy a small ad or else do a links exchange, or affiliate deal with them. Getting one of these giants on your team could be like winning the lottery as far as extra traffic that linking to them in some way could generate for you.

GET TO KNOW YOUR SUB-AFFILIATES: If you begin to contact and sign up sub-affiliates get to know the ones that join. Make certain that they end up placing one of our banners, or text ads located on their index page. Because those ads are going to be making you 15% off every sale they end up making. Contact your sub-affiliates to share traffic generating strategies, tips, ideas, and support. You need to do this to ensure that once your sub-affiliates join the program that they follow through and promote it, and not end up giving up on it prematurely.

MISSPELLED DOMAIN NAMES: Often people will type website addresses directly into the search bar to visit popular websites. Because of this what you can do is fined other websites that directly compete with yours or websites that don't compete but you know have the same kind of visitors and come up under the same kind of searches as yours. Then you can buy misspellings of their domain name that people would likely type in when doing a search. The other way to do this is to try and find misspellings of popular keywords that are related to your industry. Then you can simply turn them into doorway pages that lead the visitors to your new site.

KEYWORD RICH DOMAIN NAMES: Another way to buy domain names is to create ones that are especially keyword rich. All you have to do is find the 10 or 20 most searched keywords or keywords that directly relate to your industry. You can use the keyword suggestion tool at: to find out what keywords those are. Then what you do is do searches to find out if any of these domains are available. (Also see to find various domain registrars) If the keyword has more than one word try putting the word together or try placing a hyphen between the works. (i.e.: www.car-show.com) Also if the domain name is not available under just .com it's okay. Try purchase the .net, .org, or whatever is left, extension of the domain. It's the keywords in it that are important. Then you can create this new website into a doorway page specifically targeting that one keyword. So you'd emphasis that keyword in the "meta tags" and the content of the page itself. Again using the doorway to lead traffic to your main page.

EXPIRED DOMAIN NAMES: often someone else has already registered the good domain names. However, many of the domains that have already been registered end up being unsuccessful ventures for the previous owner. They have some traffic going to the site; often as high as several hundred visitors per day. However, they've moved on to other things, or for various reasons they let the domain name expire. These are domains you might want to consider purchasing as often they already have many links on the net pointing to them and are generating some daily traffic. And because the domain name has expired you can purchase these domain names for extremely reasonable prices. Much less expensive that full acquisitions of a website. You can search for expired domain names at some of the websites I list at:

EXPIRING DOMAIN NAMES: You can also take advantage of domain names that are about to expire. There are services that will attempt to secure any domain you choose that is about to expire. The way that happens is they have a program that will continue to monitor that domain. As soon as it expires their system will buy it for you. The only draw back with this is that it's more easily done in theory and not in practice. So what I suggest is that you only implement this strategy in the event that say you find a large popular website that relates to your business and is getting the same traffic. If their domain is going to expire you can try to use one of these services such as snapnames.com to secure their domain name. It's kind of a gray area because if you were to successfully pull it off what happen after that is up for discussion. As you can imagine the former owner would be ticked off and depending on how much they have invested in the site or how much the site is making them it could spell trouble. However, the better way to do this with no up front cost is to simply email them and tell them that you noticed that their domain was about to expire and that you'd be interested in buying their website, and see what they say. That way it's a better win-win situation.

ACQUISITIONS: Buying other sites that are for sale and that have the exact targeted traffic you need is a way to grow extremely rapidly. This might not be a strategy you can afford to implement right when you launch, however, very quickly as your site grows you could find yourself in a situation where you have to find new ways to spend all the advertising dollars that are coming in. This is one excellent way. For example say you can find 10 sites that have the targeted visitors you need, have been online for quite some time, but just don't have any business model to make them profitable. If you were able to secure them all and each are generating say 500 unique daily visitors and you'd be able to redirect that traffic to your main site, instantly you'd have 5000 unique daily visitors coming to your main site. Some of these website owners may even be considering just letting their domain names expire so if you can approach them with $1000 to gain their 500 daily visitors per day in targeted traffic, and you end up having to fork out a $10,000 to gain 10 of these types of sites it could still be well worth it. For example say on average each visitor to your site is worth even a lousy 10 cents. (That meaning that you sell a product for $100 and it takes 1000 visitors to make a sale. So $100 divided by 1000 visitors = 10 cents per visitor.) If you spent $10,000 to gain 10 sites each generating 500 daily visitors for a total of 5000 unique daily visitors. Now multiply that 5000 per day x $0.10 cents and you can see that you're site would be earning an extra $500 per day in net profit. $500 x 20 days = $10,000. So you can make back your $10,000 in potentially less than a month! Now can you see why acquisitions make so much financial sense? And there are tons of well-established websites that get tons of targeted traffic but for some reason just aren't making the owners money. Perhaps the owners just never set up a business on the site. You'll find these kinds of sites all over. Some of the important things you'll need to know before you can make a strategic purchase include:· How many unique visitors does the site average. You need to see there web logs, or statistics. If they can't provide some kind of long term visitor statistics going back months even years be extra cautious.

· Be sure that the visitors they are getting are all completely free traffic, and not traffic that they are paying tons of money for each month.

· Find out how many pages the site has in total. The more pages it has the more likely it has become well entrenched into the search engines under many different keywords.

· What is their current operating costs of the site?

· What is the site code written in? For example if you're doing to have to deal with includes, frame sets, and flash sites, it might be more difficult for you to make changes at will without hiring someone to make the changes for you.

· What are they hosting the site on? If you can simply transport the site onto your own hosting space is best.

· Why are they selling the site? Are they in breach of any trademarks? Or other potential legal matters which is why they're selling? You need to be sure that you won't end up inheriting any legal problems that they're going to be selling you with the site.

· Are they're any client/subscriber lists or databases included with the site?

· Find out what other webmaster know about them. Do a search for the name of the company, the name of the website, the name of the owner, and any other information you can look up in the search engines to see if you can dig up any information that might help you with your buying decision.

· Any site you consider buying should most likely be one you've seen around. As you deal in the keywords that specifically relate to your product or service you'll become more and more of your competitors and indirect competitors. Although you'll never be able to track all the sites in your industry chances are any site you consider buying you should have seen around as you conduct searches for the major keywords relating to your product. And if they're not under the major keywords then continue your research cautiously.

· Is the site something that you would be able to really turn into a profitable business, either by redirecting the traffic to your main site, or by creating a new business model and capitalizing on their traffic.

· Be sure that they're not gong to continue doing business in your industry. Ideally if they're selling out because they are retiring or have a new site or have solid reason that gives you assurance that they're not going to restart any competitive site to what they just sold is ideal.

· Check what they're rank is on Alexa.com, see what they're review comments are. See how many other sites are linking to them. See if they're traffic is going up or down. All this can be done at Alexa.

· Visit: betterwhois.com and see what year the site was started. If it's been online for longer than 3 years chances are it's had enough time to gain a solid amount of listings with the search engines.

· Try to finance the deal or conduct a deal that requires little to no out of pocket expenses. For example say they tell you they want $10,000 for the site and your research is telling you that to secure their traffic means you could make back that money in no time, then try to borrow that $10,000 if you don't want to use your own money. If that won't work see if you can pay them over the course of 36 months, or a time frame that allow you to make back the money off this new source of traffic. Another way it to offer 10% to 50% down and the rest financed over a period of time. If they are dead set on wanting all the money up front but you don't' have the money then see if they'll join your affiliate program and tell them they can instantly make their site profitable that way.

· See if they'll allow you to put in some clauses such as they get half the money and then as long as the traffic is really as high as their stats claim they'll get the remaining half. If not you'll have the option to sell the site back to them. Or in the event that they have not given you full disclosure on any external matters that are affecting the site, you'll have the option to sell it back to them. Best to consult a lawyer on large acquisitions.

ONLINE GIFT CERTIFICATES: This is another great concept that promotes the idea of word of mouth advertising. You offer gift certificates that can be purchased and redeemed at a later date for your products or services. People love to purchase gift certificates especially for birthdays and Christmas. As people purchase these gift certificates from you and give away it forces the recipients of that gift certificate to visit your site to redeem it. You can be sure that if you offer good products or services that new customer will come back again. And you can secure them as a lead, which you can also follow up on at a later date.

DOWNLOAD SIGNS: Another idea I came across lately to that will give you some added visitors is by giving away free software, ebooks, fonts, ring tone, videos, audio files, photos, and more; or anything else you can possible think of. The more your items you give away are targeted toward items that your target market would typically be searching for the more likely you'll attract those targeted visitors. The trick to it is that once you've prepared your items you create accounts at all the major freeware, shareware, and download sites. Many of these freeware/shareware/download sites are listed at: . When setting up your account you create your user name as your website URL. If they don't allow "periods" in the username try using "underscores", or "hyphens", if that doesn't work just put it all as one word. Then what you do is they ask you to create a title for your software. You name it exactly after the keyword that visitors would typically search for that item under. So the first word could be "AutoCAD" then the next word use your website address. So you might label the software something like "AutoCAD - and more free titles at Autocadplus.com". So that way even if they don't download your software item they'll still see your website address and some people will even visit it. You can also create a file that downloads along with your software that you specifically name after your website. Again getting the name of your website in front of them. And in that file you could have some additional useful information that they might need to use which also will mention your website and why they should visit.

POP UPS: Many surfers hate pop ups. However, don't use them in a way to show some ad that you try to get the visitor to click on. Instead the most effective way to use them is to gather leads via newsletters and contest sign up areas. What you do is set up 2 pop ups on your site. The first one being a pop up on enter, which you'll set up as a Div layer. A div layer looks like a pop up and acts like a pop up but is actually part of the same window. Pop-up blockers can't block div layers from appearing, so you'll know at least one of your pop ups will show up. Then also use a pop up on leave. The pop up on leave will also be used to gather leads for your autoresponder using a newsletter, or contest. You needs both as you'll gain so many more leads by having both the pop up on enter and on leave. Just don't have a pop ups appearing while people are trying to navigate your site, then you'll really tick them off to the point where they'll leave you for good. There's another trick you to this. There are times where you want to turn off your pop ups. For example if you're about to set up an account with a merchant provider or a pay per click search engine. Turn off your pop ups just before you apply. Then don't turn them back on until you're account with them is activated. Some other sites try to dictate what you have on your site in which they don't allow pop ups. So that's one way to get around that problem. As far as I'm concerned you're going to be making them money via paid ads and sales so know one should have any say over a marketing element like a pop up that doesn't harm anyone and is an effective marketing tool.

POP-UNDER: A pop under is a pop up that appears on enter but it loads underneath of the main window. So that way the visitor gets a second window loaded. If the first window is closed they'll then see the pop under. Also an effective means to gather leads and can be used to replace your popup on-leave as mentioned in the previous example.

YAHOO SUGEST A SITE: You can always try suggesting a site to Yahoo.com for free by going to: http://search.yahoo.com/info/submit.html However, don't count on it much, since they offer various other paid ways to get listed it's questionable to what extent or what criteria they use for this free program.

ABOVE THE FOLD: Depending on the style of site your building, visitors may or may not have the option to scroll down to view more of your index page. Be very attentive about what visitors see that immediately loads on your site without them having to "scroll down". That is the most valuable realestate on your site. Growing in value toward the middle of the screen. So whatever you have right in the middle of the screen upon entry should be something that really catches their eye. Powerful headlines generally work great. But you could also use an image of your product or of something that will catch a visitor's eye. You need to have your most eye catching information and photos above the fold so that a visitors attention will be captured and stay long enough to scroll down to see the rest of your page. And this should be done on every page of your site that a visitor would have to scroll down on.

SUPER SUB-AFFILIATES: You're affiliate program should be open to anyone, if not just about anyone. The reason is that as many of the newbies are hungry and may well in time become super-affiliates. However, when your just starting your program find at least 10 other "major players" in your industry. They could be direct or indirect competitors, it really doesn't matter as long as they have the same kind of traffic that you do and lots of it. By the time you launch you should have a excellent idea of who they are as they'll appear everywhere you look in the industry. You want those large sites to join your program. One super-affiliate could end up equating to tens of thousands of dollars in annual revenue for your company. So just by having 10 of these super-affiliates will sky rocket your success. In the upcoming chapter I demonstrate some ways to try and introduce yourself to super-affiliates. Just be certain that they're the first ones you approach with your offer. Even consider making their affiliate commission higher as you know they'll already have a proven history of both immediate targeted traffic and since they're running their own site they're sure to be reliable.

MSN GROUPS: It allows you to create 'groups' and join other peoples groups too. In order to create or join a group you need to be a registered member of the .NET service (free). With MSN Groups you can interact with people from all over the world and find other people who have similar interests to you. What you simply do is create a group of your own. You're your group after the most popular keywords in your industry. Add content to your group and make it heavily keyword rich using the main keywords in your industry. Then link multiple pages of your group to your main website. You can then begin to promote your group all over the net and watch as it begins to take root and grow. You can also create more than one group, naming each of your groups after another top keyword in your industry. Off one group I created I had about 40 free targeted daily visitors finding that group and then as they would read my ad in the group about my main site they would click through that link to my main website. So there's definitely some traffic to be won with this strategy. To see a list of these groups go to:

GOOGLE GROUPS: Google now has there own groups as well. You can essentially do the same thing with the Google groups as you can with the msn groups. See "groups" at:

TRICK BANNER: Trick banners seek to overcome "banner blindness" and "banner baggage" by disguising the fact that they are advertising devices. Typically, no mention is made of the advertiser. Instead what you do is set the background color of the banner to "transparent". Then you add for example a series of links that simply look like text links to the banner. Or they can be designed to appear as a system alert window that typically appears during typical operation in a windows environment. While it is common for trick banners to attract a higher-than-average click-through rate (CTR), the quality of the clicks may be somewhat suspect, as visitors are likely to hit the "Back" button once they realize what happened. Additionally, since trick banners rarely have identifying information, they fail to capture any non-click response such as brand awareness.

WEBSITE OWNER HANG OUTS: Often as you begin marketing your product or service you need to find other website owners to approach with various offers from: affiliate programs, to joint ventures, selling advertising space, selling products or services, conducting B2B, seeking out ecommerce or web-design help, and more. If you need to find information of targeted website owners only in your industry then you should look at simply data-mining the largest directories, and search engines. However an even easier way to track down "large amounts" of website owners and contact them with very little effort, then all you have to do is to find the right forums. All you have to do is a search for: "Website owner forums", or "webmaster forums" and you'll find a tons of sites offering forums specifically focused on :"Website owners", or "webmasters". The other gem of an idea I found as to where to find webmasters and website owners is to do a search for "hosting services forums", "web-hosting forums" or "hosting forums". Many hosting companies offer forums that anyone can post to. In these forums you'll find tons of webmasters who would just love to find out about what you have to say. Just be careful not to spam the message boards. You have to be "very subtle" about your ad postings or you'll get deleted.
